Existence- “Testimonial”

The speaker recounts her existence in "Testimonial": “ the world called, and I answered/Each glance ignited to a gaze/ I caught my breath and called that life.” The speaker’s actuality inaugurated the day she was born. The world subsidized the monumental reality through its metaphorical call. Had the world worked against the speaker, she would not have subsisted in relating her testimony.

Flirtation- “Flirtation”

The imagery of “ An orange, peeled, and quartered, flares, like a tulip on a wedgewood” recapitulates the ramifications of flirtation. The orange summonses the probable eater in the same way that a flirting woman bids a man. Flirtation provokes fleshly and corporeal desire.
