Lockhart, Real Live Boyfriends is a young adult fiction novel in which the main character Ruby Oliver deals with the problems life throws at her when it comes to relationships, including the deaths of some of her lovers. The novel is the last of four in a series and explores themes of love and friendship. The book has had a mixed reception, with some critics finding the characters unrelatable and others noting that the series unnecessarily extends the course of events.
Emily Jenkins is the author of We Were Liars, a New York Times bestseller. Born in 1967, Jenkins has written children's books, young adult novels, and adult fiction books. She grew up in Seattle and studied English literature at Columbia University. Her novel The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks was a finalist for the National Book Award for Young Adult Literature.
