Published in 1993, Poof! is a one-act play about two women discussing the sudden disappearance of an abusive husband. When abused wife Loureen curses her husband Samuel, she's shocked to find a pile of ashes where he once stood. In a panic, Loureen calls her best friend and upstairs neighbor Florence, who at first refuses to believe Loureen's story. After finally accepting that what Loureen says is true, Florence initially feels jealousy that she is stuck with her own abusive husband, Edgar.
