Objective:

Students will learn about Greek mythology and its influences on literature

Common Core Standards:

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RH.11-12.5; CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RH.11-12.9

Structure:

For this activity, the students will work in groups to create a genealogical map (or family tree) for the following characters: Leda, Zeus, Agammemnon.

The students will use internet resources for this assignment, as well as hints from Yeats throughout this section of the collection.

This activity could be particularly enriching if the students were also provided with relevant excerpts from Hesiod (Theogony), Homer (The Illiad), and Aeschylus...
