What happened to Mr. Fearing on his journey? What lesson do the pilgrims take away from this?
Mr. Fearing encountered all the same obstacles that Christian did, but he responded to many of them very differently. Mr. Fearing's most prominent character trait was (obviously) his fearfulness, but he was not fearful of everything. Mr. Fearing was overwhelmed with fear of God's judgment and of falling into sin but was unafraid of many other things. For example, outside of Interpreters' house, Mr. Fearing was so overcome that he laid on the ground and could not bring himself to knock on the door, but the Hill of Difficulty and the lions outside the Beautiful Castle did not faze...
