Why is Swede upset with Reuben for telling Jeremiah about Davy? How does she express her feelings?
She views the fact that he hadn’t told her about Davy to be a lie of epic proportions, a major betrayal of their sibling bond. However, the fact that he eventually tells Jeremiah about Davy makes it even worse. He’s now a traitor to Davy (and thus to her), the ultimate betrayer. At first, she rages against Reuben, comparing him to a number of historical traitors and throwing a violent tantrum in her room. Later, she refuses to forgive him. Reuben and Swede have always been close, and Swede is usually hot-headed and chatty, so it’s especially indicative of something wrong...
