Objective:

Students will be able to read and analyze "Song of Myself" in conjunction with Paper Towns.

CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.9-10.9, CCSS.ELA-Literacy.SL.9-10.5

Structure:

Assign students to individually read the poem "Song of Myself." Encourage them to keep in mind the various interpretations of the poem expressed in Paper Towns. You may wish to pull the relevant passages from the text, particularly Q's discussion with his teacher, Dr. Holden. Make sure students take the time to highlight and annotate the poem, taking note of the lines that Margo highlighted.
