Students will explore the text, its themes, and its historical and social context through media.

Structure:

For this exercise, students should watch the first 50 or so minutes of the 2016 film Neruda. If the teacher prefers, select scenes can be chosen instead, for a shortened viewing time.

As they watch the film, students should keep the following questions in mind and take notes. They will be asked the same questions during the following class discussion:
