colonialism

A policy of imperialist expansion by a dominant country which results in submission by weaker countries.

Aborigines

Indigenous people native to Australia.

corella

A white cockatoo with a long bill popular as caged birds trained to talk.

pustule

An inflamed boil filled with pus.

dismal

Dreary and bleak with the capacity to stimulate a gloomy and depressing outlook.

redeeming

With the capacity to make something good out of that which has all gone wrong.

iniquitous

Wicked and sinful; or at least the stimulating the perception of being so.

shindy

Short for shindig which is a wild and joyous celebration filled with music and dancing.

madge cull, fluter, mollie, prissy cove

Slang and derogatory terms for a homosexual.

renegade

A rebel who may viewed as a traitor or defector or apostate depending on the circumstances and the perspective.

frippery

An overly fancy and wastefully ornamental waste of resources and time.

inevitable

Unavoidable; inescapable, inexorable.

flog

Punishment by being whipped.

escapade

An adventure or exploit worth recounting over and over.

rations

Food provisions for a limited period of time.

travesty

A shameful mockery or humiliating reversal of expectations; a disrespectful burlesque of a serious subject.

tyranny

Despotic leadership; authority by force.
