Verse, Meter, and Character

Objective:
To understand how character development can be played out in verse and meter
Common Core Standards:

Structure:
Start by refreshing the students' memories about the concepts of meter and verse, focusing in particular on iambic pentameter. Then, pick part of a scene from Act III and ask for student volunteers to read it aloud. As those students read, the rest of the students should try to annotate their own texts (provide photocopies for this purpose) to note the meter and, perhaps, rhyme scheme.
