    “Solitude” Quote Activity

    Objective:

    To analyze the theme of solitude in the novel

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.CCRA.R.4 ; CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.CCRA.W.1

    Structure:

    Solitude is one of the most important themes in One Hundred Years of Solitude. In fact, the word “solitude” appears repeatedly in the text, more often than any other word. In this activity, students will analyze specific instances of the word solitude and try to categorize the different kinds of solitude for different characters.

    You can begin this activity with a short discussion using the following questions:
