to steal, generally referring to taking small amounts of individual items from a much larger supply

recompense

a rather formal term indicating one's character through their outward behavior

excitement about accomplishing a task

sober

not so much having to do with staying away from alcohol as much as the manifestation of control associated with those who abstain

pilgrim

a person who embarks upon a journey (often fraught with potential danger) to a place or for a reason considered sacred
