Notorious RBG: The Life and Times of Ruth Bader Ginsburg is a biography of the renowned political and feminist leader, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, whose role as the second female Supreme Court of the United States cemented her name in history. The title of the film was inspired by the rapper, Notorious B.I.G. The book was published on October 2015 by Dey Street Books.
The book covers both the professional and personal life of Ginsburg throughout her childhood to adulthood. The book also interview’s Ginsburg and relays her commentary on aspects of her childhood, growing up as a first-generation American Jewish family in Brooklyn, and her dedication to entering the field of law, by successfully gaining entry into Harvard Law School. The book touches on the landmark rulings made throughout her career including United States v. Virginia (1996) and Ledbetter v. Goodyear (2007).
The book was highly praised, with Jennifer Senior of The New York Times stating “'Notorious RBG’ may be a playful project, but it asks to be read seriously...That I responded so personally to it is a testimony to [its] storytelling and panache.”
