Based on the information provided in the first chapter, how would you describe the protagonist, known as The Underground Man?
The Underground Man believes he is a sick and wicked man. He should be under a physician’s treatment because of his diseased liver, but he refuses a doctor’s help. He is superstitious even though he is educated. He is forty years old, and he used to be in the civil service. He was a rude official (and liked being that way), but he had enough integrity not to take bribes.
