Poet Christina Georgina Rossetti was born in 1830 in London to Gabriele Rossetti, a poet and scholar, and Frances Polidori Rossetti. She was the youngest of her Italian immigrant parents' four children; one of her elder brothers, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, would become a well-known poet and painter as well. Their mother, who had trained as a governess, educated all of the children at home until the boys went on to university; Christina and her sister Maria received all of their education at home.
