The Impertinence of Black History Month

Nikki Giovanni’s “BLK History Month” underscores the worthlessness of venerating the ‘Black History Month’. According to Giovanni, the commemoration of “Black History Month” is analogous to wind which “does not carry the seeds and drop them/ on fertile ground.” The wind represents the ideals that are intensified during the month. Notably, the messages are not effectual as they neither proliferate the blacks’ sense of belonging nor amplify their self-esteem. Accordingly, Giovanni holds that the month is just a formality that does not trigger any profound modifications in the black people's lives.

Assassination (“A Poem on the Assassination of Robert. F. Kennedy”)

“A Poem on the Assassination of Robert F. Kennedy” is a historical allusion to Robert. F Kennedy’s elimination. Nikki Giovanni argues that Robert F. Kennedy was a momentous tree , and murdering him was comparable to contradicting the ecology. Robert F. Kennedy was exterminated during a prime chapter of his life that can be equated to summer.
