Nick and Charlie Irony

Nick and Charlie Irony

Charlie's disobedience to Mr. Shannon.

When the headmaster, Mr. Shannon, gives orders to Charlie, he expects him to follow them to the latter. However, Charlie does the contrary when the headmaster sends him to tell the senior students to put out the grill to ensure nobody gets hurt. Instead of Charlie giving the head teacher's orders to the senior students, he decides to stay with Nick and the other senior students at the party.

The breakup

Nick and Charlie are a perfect couple in high school, and everyone in town knows they will never separate. Nick and Charlie have dated for the last two years, and it has come a time when Nick is graduating. Charlie is one class behind Nick. Nick will go abroad to pursue his further studies. Ironically, Nick and Charlie start to doubt their love because they might break due to the distance between them. When Nick leaves for further studies, the relationship becomes shaky and collapses. People around are shocked to learn that even a perfect relationship can break.

Charlie’s reaction to Nick’s texts

Nick is excited and sends several texts to tell Charlie how excited he is because he will join the university soon. Nick knows that Charlie is the best person to share his excitement with because they are a couple. Ironically, Charlie receives the texts with contempt and never responds. Charlie is sad and does not want Nick to leave. The reader expects Charlie to be happy for Nick because going to university is meant to make their future life successful.
