Nick and Charlie is author Alice Oseman's novella—first published in 2015 as an eBook and in 2020 as a paperback book—which continues the story of Nick and Charlie. At first glance, Nick and Charlie are the perfect couple: they are incredibly similar to each other and seemingly spend every moment they can together. They realize that their relationship will change after Nick leaves for college and Charlie is left alone in their hometown. Many of their friends and members of their community question if they will stay together. But they are the area's biggest power couple, and they have to stay together. They are each other's first love, but they know that their love will be tested after Nick leaves for college. Will they stay together? Or will they break up?
When it was published in 2015, Nick and Charlie was well-received by the public and by critics. Oseman's novel was also a bestseller, selling quite a few copies electronically and in paperback form. Reviewers highlighted Nick and Charlie's brevity, but commended the novella's story and said it never felt extraneous. A reviewer for Bookscouter.com said in her positive review of the novella that, "As much as this reader recoils from the notion of predestiny, together or apart, [Nick and Charlie are] impossible to resist."
