You want no cut and more pay?

Victor

Victor realized that he had already seen Robyn. It happened during a strike when teachers and students were protesting against budget cuts. Being a businessman and having a practical kind of a mind, he asks whether they “want no cut and more pay” and gets an affirmative answer. This is what all people want! But the question is whether it is possible. Robyn has never really thought who would pay if the government agrees to not cut their budget. The problem is that there is no “free meal”, someone has to pay. If the government leaves education in peace, it may try to squeeze more money from the manufacturers or any other sphere. The population is usually concerned about their own problems and they don’t bother themselves with struggles of others. Courtesy of Victor, Robyn learns that an economical crisis makes no exception, if it strikes one sphere, sooner or later, it is going to strike another.

Is money only one criterion?

Robyn

Culture is an irreplaceable part for mankind’s progress. Unfortunately, more and more people tend to forget about importance of culture. People like Victor, businessmen and entrepreneurs, think in numbers, caring only about profit and money. When Robyn asks Victor whether money is “only one criterion”, he is really puzzled. Many years of work in the manufacturing sphere taught him always look for profit. However, later on, he learns that money is really not only one criterion. He comes to a conclusion that life itself is too diverse to be focused on the one thing all the time.

I thought you were all for equality?

Victor

Plant or factory work is a dirty, difficult and exhausting one. When Robyn sees women at Pringle’s, who don’t even look like women, for work exhausts them greatly, she is genuinely horrified. Victor says that he “thought you were all for equality” in order to tease Robyn, who proudly calls herself a feminist. It is a perfect opportunity for Robyn to think over her refined idea of feminism. If she is really all for equality, then she has to admit that feminism is not only a set of wonderful ideas, it is a real life.
