Morning Star Analysis

Morning Star begins with Darrow, the main character, being incarcerated by Jackal. Darrow's oppression is worse such that he has been publicized as an intruder in his high caste world. Jackal puts him in a solitary cubicle with complete darkness. Sons of Ares comes for Darrow and rescues him along with Victra. Darrow looks fragile and lacks confidence. Therefore, he needs time to heal. Meanwhile, when he recuperates and becomes healthy again, Darrow joins Sevro to kidnap Quicksilver, who is believed to be the galaxy's richest man. The fight ensues between the two factions, but Darrow’s faction wins the battle.

Quicksilver discloses that he is the founder of Sons of Ares and gives a big chunk of his wealth to Darrow. The sons of Ares take control of the Phobos moon, leading to all the low colors seizing control of all ships, towers, and armory. During this time, Darrow and Ragnar go on with their plan, but Mustang blocks their way until they include her in their mission. The plan is to take Ragnar to the Obsidian clan to talk over his mother to join the rebellion movement. Ragnar’s mother, Alia Snowsparrow, is an Obsidian queen. The journey to Ragnar’s old home is full of conflicts and fights.

Ultimately, the group manages to reach its destination. In the meantime, they are chained up to wait for queen Alia. People in Obsidian believe that golds are gods. However, when Darrow tricks Sefi, Ragnar’s sister, into testing the golden god’s powers, they fail the test. The test makes Sefi angry, and in turn, she kills her mother, thus becoming Queen of Obsidian. Sefi leads fellow Obsidians to form an alliance with Darrow’s gang. Later, they rejoin the Sons of Ares, where Cassius discloses that Jackal has stolen the nuclear weapons stockpile.

The group considers going to the moon lords of Jupiter. Here, they meet Romulus, Arch Governor of the moons, and form an alliance with him. Generally, depicts a society where conflict to seize its control is prevalent. Darrow is a strong fighter whose fight with society’s rulers unravels the rebellion to destroy the hierarchy. The competition for control of resources makes some friends become enemies.
