    When you think of ancient Greek theater, what do you usually think of? How is what you've read of Lysistrata so far similar to or different than your preconceptions of the art form?

    Many students probably equate Greek theater with Greek tragedy: intense, dramatic, and linked to ancient myth. Lysistrata, by contrast, is bawdy, broad comedy, although it has some serious import behind its plot. Students may be intrigued that overt sex jokes like those that appear in Chorus 1 are part of something considered a "classic."
