Structure:

Pi says that an undignified animal might have been "more trying companionship" on the lifeboat. Read this paragraph aloud as a class and discuss why Pi might feel this way. Ask students if they think this is a realistic attitude for the character to have, and if they think it is line with what they already know about Pi.
