Constructing a Parable

Understanding the elements of a parable and why they are relevant to the text.

Structure:
Ask the class to identify the meaning of the term "parable." A parable is a story that uses concrete phenomena to illustrate abstract moral or spiritual concepts. It is different from a fable, in that the events of a fable are usually fantastical and unrealistic, whereas a parable can have many realistic elements, or even be a true story, as long as it has a clear moral than can be extrapolated to relate to other situations.
