Billy Weaver
A seventeen-year-old boy who is traveling to London and seeks board at a cheap bed and breakfast, owned by an unnamed landlady. He is taken by the cheap prices, but things take a darker turn when he realizes that there are two other boarders who he knows have gone missing at the place.
The landlady
She is initially presented as a kind old lady who takes in Billy and cares for him after his long journey. However, there is more to her than meets the eye. Indeed, she is a taxidermist and stuffs her boarders after killing them with poison.
Christopher Mulholland
He is only described by his name written in the guest log-in book. Billy recognizes the name, which provokes his curiosity, as he knows that Mulholland was in the papers for his disappearance.
Gregory W. Temple
Another one of the landlady’s victims. Temple is also logged into the diary but is not recognized by Billy. When Billy asks about Christopher, the landlady assures him that both he and Temple are residing upstairs. Of course, in actuality, they are both dead and stuffed upstairs.
