Shakespeare's source material—Plutarch's biographies of major figures in Roman history—contains many of the central elements of Julius Caesar. In this activity, students will read and discuss an excerpt from Plutarch's biography of Julius Caesar in order to compare its content to that of the play and to consider the choices Shakespeare made in adapting this material.
