Plotting the Journey

Objective:

Students will use information from the book to illustrate the journey.

Structure:

In this activity, students will plot the journey that the travelers in the book take against a cross-section of the Earth. First, split the class into groups of 3 or 4. Each group will consult their books to find the trajectory of the party's descent. Have each group collectively list out the measurements made by Axel and the Professor on a sheet of paper. These should include the depth traveled, the distance traveled, and their general heading.
