In the Afterlight Symbols, Allegory and Motifs

Motif of Jude's memory

Jude's memory reminds Ruby and her friends to stay together, to confide in each other, to show each other their shadows as well. Jude was the kind of person that wanted to know people, to understand their actions and what is the root of them.

Ruby's symbolic walk out of Thurmond

When Thurmond is taken down and PSI kids freed badly injured Ruby insists to walk out of there on her own two feet. It represents her want to control that moment, to walk out of there on her own, to finally leave the ghost as well as the building of Thurmond behind her.

Color symbolism

Color symbolism is present in the distinction between the different levels of IAAN affected kids, green being the most harmless and red being the most dangerous.
