Structure:

The letter that Imtiaz sends to Deven claims that her poetry is ignored because of her gender. There is some truth to her argument, but there is a long history of women writing great poetry. For this assignment, students will identify some of those poets.

Using the internet, ask each student to find a great female poet. The students should pick three poems that they like from their poet.
