    Why does Claudius fear for his life? What are the repercussions of this? Why is it significant?

    When Claudius finally receives a letter from Germanicus there is absolutely no mention of Postumus. It is then that he realizes all his letter to Germanicus were intercepted and he begins to fear for his life. He is so scared that his stammer and nervous tics reappear and he finds himself unable to perform his duties as the priest of Augustus. He then writes to Tiberius and requests to be granted a break from his duties due to his poor health.
