This lesson comes from the Scholastic Teacher's Activity Guide for the Underground Railroad, found here. There are a lot of resources and activities available through this guide.

First, as a class, share what students know about the Underground Railroad. The teacher can keep track of things on the white board. To get students sharing, ask them specific questions: what was the Underground Railroad? Who ran it?

Next, read the myths of the underground...
