Analyze how Rumor effects the decision making of the rebels while they consult with one another in Gaultree Forest in Act IV, Scene 1.
Rumor effects the decisions of the rebels by convincing them to hear out Prince John's deal, first communicated to them by Westmoreland. They decide this primarily because they don't have Northumberland's men. Westmoreland also offers them a deal that is too good to pass up: the king is willing to here their grievances and they will be allowed to return home as long as they disband immediately. We find out shortly after this that this is not case, as Prince John arrests and sentences them to death as soon as they surrender.
