    Names with Meaning

    Research

    Objective:

    To examine the way Rushdie uses names to add meaning to the text and relate it to students’ lives.

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.9-10.4.C, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.9-10.4

    Structure:

    Students will each use Google to research the meaning of their own name, paying attention to the geographic and cultural origin of the name, what it means, and any famous individuals or culturally significant fictional characters who might share the name.
