Students will examine from a first-person perspective the capabilities that Cro-Magnons evolved

Structure:

Begin with a teacher-led discussion of the qualities that set Cro-Magnon apart from previous protohumans. Take 5-10 minutes and ask the class for ideas and specific items listed in the text (direct them to the paragraph that begins "Cro-Magnon garbage heaps yield not only stone tools but also tools of bone..."). Write the items on the board for students to have a visual reference while they complete the written assignment.
