    Analyzing Origin Stories

    Objective:

    Students will be able to research and analyze origin stories

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.11-12.6, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.11-12.2

    Structure:

    To begin the activity, ask students to summarize the creation, or origin, story in Green Grass, Running Water. Students should begin with the First Woman, the turtle, and the water. Then, students may describe the actions of the land coming into formation, God/Dog’s role in the garden, and how Ahdamn joined the First Woman.
