God of the Oppressed Characters

God of the Oppressed Character List

James H. Cone

This is a personal text written by James H. Cone, informed by his personal experiences and his extensive research about black theology. He has published many books about this subject, but according to him "God of the Oppressed represents my most developed theological position."

Martin Luther King

Martin Luther King is also mentioned in this text. King was an African American activist who is known for his work during the civil rights movement in America, and his moving speech, "I have a dream." Cone describes his approach as being a "moderate, integrationist philosophy."

Malcolm X

In the preface to this book, Cone references radical civil rights activist Malcolm X. He tells us that critics of his previous books pointed to the fact he was influenced by Malcolm X and the Black Power movement, adopting some of his radical viewpoints.
