Genghis Temujin Khan
Temujin “Genghis Khan” is the main protagonist in this historical nonfiction. He was born Temujin, into a family that was cast out by its tribe. Temujin had a strong mind and body, and was a nationalistic person, even though he saw the faults in his own country and was critical to it. He changed his name to the infamous Genghis Khan later in his life. He also led his country to the beginning of greatness, making the Mongol empire something students learn about till this day.
Khubilai
Khubilai is the main protagonist in the third section of the book. He is Genghis Khans grandsons brother and became the ruler after the death of his brother, Mongke. The Mongol Empire reaches its greatest territorial extent, great economical triumphs and flourishing trade under the rule of Khubilai. The empire also falls under his reign.
Ogodei
Ogodei was one of Genghis sons. He succeeded his father and took over the rule of the Mongol Empire. He changed the tradition and built the first permanent capital city. He and his brother continued conquering big parts of Eastern Europe and the Near East. Ogodei had a son called Guyuk.
