Frindle Imagery

Frindle Imagery

Eyes

Mrs. Granger's eyes are described throughout the book. The are described to let the reader know of Mrs. Grangers true feelings and true amiable nature even when she seems like the protagonist of the book. As the book goes on, Mrs. Granger's eyes change from intense to soft and excited.

Seasons

The seasons and specific day throughout the year are described to give a sense of time passing. The book starts out with the summer and gives a description of a September day. It then describes the days Halloween and the days of winter and finally the days of spring at the end of the school year to show that it is indeed a very long year for Nick but time does go on.

Dress

Some of the most detailed imagery is that of the adults. Other than Nick himself, the only other characters described in detail were the adults. Mrs. Granger was described in detail, and so was the Principal of Nick's school. This shows that the central characters of the story and the conflict were Nick and the authority figures in his life.

Frindle merchandise

As the story progresses and the word "Frindle" becomes more popular, the word shows up everywhere. It is on pens and t-shirts and hats. At the very end is even added onto the welcome sign for Westfield, New Hampshire and symbolizes the increasing amount of success the word "frindle" has as Nick keeps fighting to make it a real word.
