Dream Stuff Metaphors and Similes

Milt's magic

Jack's mother's new love interest, even though Jack was unaware of that at the time, a young man called Milt is different from other men who came into his life since his father's gone missing. Milt has an understated, effortless aura that makes Jack drawn to him. Jack describes it as magic, even though Milt is unaware of it, which makes it even more impactful.

Gigantic angels

In the story "Dream Stuff", Colin observes the trees outside his window when he returns to his home country. The trees are supposed to appear sinister in the darkness, but to him they seem to have a powerful energy, like gigantic angels momentarily stilled. This energy comes from the growth, from the greenness.

Angie finding her place

Angie is the main voice in the story "Great Day". She is a young daughter-in-law of the family and with that has moments of disconnect to the rest. She is unable to shake off the feeling of being like a child dumped on them and being unable to find something to do. At the end of the story, this feeling is revoked by Audley praising her attentive nature, which is like a natural prayer of the soul.
