Dragonwings Irony

Dragonwings Irony

The paradox of lunacy

When Windrider shares his dreams of developing an airplane with the people around him, they call him lunatic and possessed with impossibilities. Ironically, Windrider is not deterred, and he keeps his dream alive. When he is joined with his son, Moon, they work together towards achieving the impossible dream. Towards the end, the 'doubting Thomas' is shocked to see Windrider's dream become a reality. Therefore, the person people call mad is celebrated for designing an airplane to work perfectly.

The satire of the Black Dog

Windrider and Moon are determined to show their kindness to the Black by warning him against his bad behavior of stealing. Little did Windrider know that his family would be the next victim of Black Dog's criminal activities. Moon is shocked to learn that Black Dog has stolen from their family, and he is nowhere to be seen.

The irony of the earthquake

The reader expected the lives of Windrider and his son to take a drastic backward turn after the earthquake, but things changed for the better. Windrider and his son relocated to a new place, and their determination to develop an airplane increased. The earthquake bonded the family together, and their shared vision of developing an airplane was attained.
