Divergent (2014 Film) Irony

Choose

Tris has begun her aptitude test and is expecting to receive a clear result from it as to which faction she should choose. Ironically, she is divergent, which is extremely rare. This positioning means that she won't be given a clear path as to what to choose. She will have to figure it out as she goes.

Dauntless

Tris has joined Dauntless and she's excited to be running through the streets with her new faction. Ironically, she doesn't know that they are about to have her jump from a moving subway car onto a building in order to remain in the faction. What she's chosen is far more dangerous than she expected.

Breaking the Glass

Tris undergoes her fear simulation and when she's trapped in a tank of water she simply reminds herself that the situation she's in isn't real and breaks the glass with her finger. Ironically, to do so isn't as simple as she's made it out to be, and Four wants to know what she tested out at on her aptitude test because she shouldn't be able to do that.

Tris and Four

Four has been manipulated by Jeanine and is now fighting Tris; here, Tris has to pull a gun on him in order for him to stop. Ironically, it isn't until she points the gun at herself and is willing to die that he comes out of the state of being under the influence.

Jeanine

Jeanine has been the authority that rules over all the factions. She's seen as the high-minded leader that is needed. Ironically, she is the one who has been manipulating everyone in Dauntless to begin to kill the other factions. It isn't until Tris and Four stop her that her evil scheme comes to an end.
