"I'm not here to meet you in particular, but I am here to help those that have been let down by the system."
This is Okwe's first line in the film, which he says to some men at the airport who need a ride. He sees that their driver is not there, so he offers to take them in his cab, even though he is not their official driver. His line alludes to his own plight, the fact that he himself has been let down by the system and needs help.
"In Nigeria they do very interesting things with pork...but of course I used lamb."
Okwe has made dinner for himself and Senay. As they sit down to eat, he says that the recipe he made includes pork. As a Muslim, Senay cannot eat pork, so when he first mentions pork, she panics. Soon enough, however, he light-heartedly reassures her that he has replaced the pork with lamb.
"If you want to stay don't concern yourself with who comes and goes."
Ivan says this to Okwe when they are making a room service sandwich for a guest. Okwe has asked him if he's noticed anyone who has come in and hasn't come out of the hotel. After finding the heart in the toilet, Okwe has become quite inquisitive, but Ivan warns him that he ought not get too curious if he wants to keep his job; better to lay low.
"We are the people you do not see. We are the ones who drive your cabs, we clean your rooms, and suck your cocks"
Okwe, Juliette, and Senay have given the organ dealer Sneaky's kidney in the hotel parking lot and the dealer asks Okwe why he has never seen them before. Okwe responds with the above quote, a statement about the marginality and invisibility of illegal workers.
"There's nothing so dangerous as a virtuous man."
Guo Yi says this to Okwe after Okwe tells him about the organ black market being run out of his hotel. Okwe is outraged by the operation and wants to intervene to help people. Guo Yi is a more pragmatic man, and just wants to keep his head down and maintain the status quo. He warns Okwe that his sense of moral rightness is dangerous and could cause him problems if he's not careful.
"Hello? Valerie? Yes, it's me. At last, I'm coming home!"
The last lines of the film. At the airport, Okwe prepares to return to Nigeria, and calls his seven-year-old daughter, Valerie, to let her know that her father is coming home at last.
"You know, Okwe, good at chess usually means bad at life. You do realize that she's in love with you, don't you? I've been with her 20 minutes, and I know it. But then, I'm bad at chess..."
Guo Yi tells Okwe that even though he is an excellent chess player, he is not very good at "life," and has not even realized that Senay is in love with him. Having not even seen them interact, Guo Yi understands that Senay harbors a deep affection for Okwe.
Senay: Go to hell.
Sneaky: This is hell.
When Senay goes to Sneaky to sell her kidney, he tells her that she has to have sex with him first. When she tells him to go to hell, he tells her that they are already there. This typifies Sneaky's evil character: he is cynical about life and has abandoned all sense of ethics.
"I bit, Okwe. At the factory. He said he would report me to immigration, and he made me suck. But today I bit. I bit. I bit."
After running away from the sweatshop where she works, Senay goes to Okwe and tells him that she bit the penis of her boss instead of sucking it, like he wanted her to. In a state of desperation, she has refused to keep doing sexual favors for her boss, opting instead to take matters into her own hands.
Okwe: My hands are shaking.
Guo Yi: So are mine! I don't have a driver's license!
On their way to the airport at the end of the film, Okwe is so excited to leave the country that his hands are shaking. Guo Yi echoes his sentiment, but then comically reveals that it's because he is driving illegally. This is a comic reminder that all of the main characters are undocumented, and risk deportation at any moment.
