an herbal stimulant, originally from Africa.

venereal disease (noun)

a sexually transmitted disease.

hooker (noun)

slang term for a prostitute.

kidney (noun)

organ whose main function is to purify/detoxify blood. Each person has two, can function with only one. Kidneys are usually in high demand in the organ market.

atheist (noun)

person who does not believe any God exists.

staphylococcal (adjective)

pertaining to bacteria that can cause pus formation.

deportation (noun)

act of evicting a foreigner from a country.

refugee (noun)

a person who has been forced to leave their country in order to escape war, persecution, or natural disaster.

crematorium (noun)

a place where a dead person's body is cremated.

porter (noun)

a person employed to carry luggage and other loads, especially in a railroad station, airport, or hotel.

The Ritz (proper noun)

A very fine five-star hotel in London.

anaesthetic (noun)

substance that reduces pain.

scalpel (noun)

blade used for surgery.

concussion (noun)

temporary unconsciousness caused by a blow to the head. The term is also used loosely of the aftereffects such as confusion or temporary incapacity.

Pylades (proper noun)

in Greek myths, the boatman who ferried souls to the land of dead.

Hades (proper noun)

Greek God of death.

asylum seeker (noun)

A person who has left their country of origin as a (political) refugee and is seeking to find a home in another.

black market (noun)

A figurative place where the illegal trade of goods or commodities takes place.

sweatshop (noun)

A factory where manual workers are employed to produce goods, normally clothing. These workers tend to be mistreated, underpaid, and are sometimes minors (below the age of 18).

The "morning-after” pill (noun)

A form of emergency contraception that a woman usually takes the morning after having sexual intercourse.
