Newark Airport
Napolitano captures the ambiance of Newark Airport. She writes, “Newark Airport is shiny from a recent renovation. There are potted plants at each joint of the security line, to keep passengers from realizing how long they'll have to wait." The passengers are focused on getting to their destination. They have their suitcase with them and are waiting for their departure time. Exhaustion is inevitable, considering they had to rise early to avoid missing their flights.
Airbus A321
The airbus is a colossal plane that resembles a whale. It is for commercial purposes due to its sitting capacity of 187 passengers. Napolitano explains, "The plane is an Airbus A 321, a white whale with a blue stripe down the side. It seats 187 passengers and is arranged around a center aisle." The airbus has three levels of classes, all of which have been booked. Their airbus is cold, so the passengers wear their sweaters upon entering it.
Bells
At the airport, Jane notices a woman dressed uniquely. The woman is conscious due to the bells on her cloth. Jane remarks, "There are bells sewn into the hem of her skirt. Can you imagine wearing something that makes a jingly sound every time you move?" The ringing bells attract the attention of other passengers. The woman is not mortified by the attention she brings upon herself. Jane does not understand the woman's motivation for wearing a skirt with ringing bells.
