Catching Teller Crow (2019) was written by the sister-brother team Ambelin and Ezekiel Kwaymullina. A thriller, Kwaymullina's novel is told from the perspective of two Aboriginal protagonists. One of those protagonists is the father of Beth Teller (who is a police detective at his day job), a young woman who had recently been found murdered. The other is her suspected murderer. Together, Beth's father and her suspected murderer work as a team to wrangle a potential witness to Beth's murder (Isobel Catching) and to determine who killed Beth once and for all. But as the two get closer to the truth and the identity of the killer, they realize that more sinister things are at play—things that affect their entire town.
Catching Teller Crow received exceptionally positive reviews when it was published and garnered a number of highly prestigious awards. For instance, The Guardian called the novel a "taut, intricate thriller" and "deeply poignant" in their review. It was also named one of the best Australian novels for young adults in 2019, signaling its popularity.
