Students will think critically about the novel's relevance in the present time and will be able to do a comparative analysis.

Structure:

The students will watch the 2019 Todd Phillips movie Joker (maybe not all of it) and then discuss as a full class the parallels they see between the main character, Arthur Fleck, and Dwayne Hoover, from Vonnegut's novel. They will also discuss the common themes that emerge in both, as well as the divergent ones. How are the common themes treated differently?
