Bone Game: A Novel Imagery

Bone Game: A Novel Imagery

Coyote against the ravens

While Luther and Hoey are on the road to visit Cole, Hoey notices a confrontation between a coyote and two ravens. Ravens are trying to trick the coyote out of its food that it caught. One raven is distracting the coyote making it drop its food, while the other approaches to steal it. Coyote manages to get back the rabbit it caught but the ravens are blocking its path so it has to go another way with ravens at its tail. This imagery of a confrontation between the animals that almost appears as a game is a significant portrayal of a survival struggle that could be applied to the larger scale, even to society as well.

Stillness of the past

Being plagued by nightmares and images of, to him, unknown past, he decides to revisit his own past, visit his old home where he grew up with his brother Attis. When he approaches the old house he is surprised by the stillness and quiet, not even birds making sounds. It is as if the time stood still there, there is no evidence of life despite someone living there. Quiet surrounds the house and the area around it and when he looks at the door he feels as if his brother will run out of the house, a haunting and terrifying feeling.
