    All about Imagery

    Kind of Activity:

    Individual Writing

    Objective:

    Students will analyze some of the images in the text and make connections to the themes.

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.9-10.2, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.9-10.4

    Structure:

    To start the activity, have students read either Audre Lorde’s “Naturally” or Maya Angelou’s “Phenomenal Woman.” Have students raise their hands and say the images that pop up for them in the poem(s).
