What is the irony of Beka Lamb winning the essay contest?
Winning an essay contest is not easy unless one is exceptionally bright. The novel begins by notifying the reader that Beka has won an essay contest painting a picture that she is a bright student. However, it is ironic that she fails all her classes in a private Catholic school. Her parents have sacrificed to take her to an expensive school and they expect her to do well. The reader finds it sarcastic that Beka can win an essay contest but fail in her school exams

How does Beka Lamb prove to the reader that she is a self-motivated character?
Towards the end of the novel, the reader realizes that despite the hurdles Beka goes through, she finally succeeds. By accepting responsibility, Beka transitions to a successful person when she comes of age. Through Beka’s experiences, Zee Edgell is passing a message to the reader that nothing is impossible in this life. When Beka fails all classes in the private Catholic school, the reader thinks that she is doomed. However, Beka recollects herself and works on her weaknesses while maximizing on her strengths. The story ends depicting Beka as a victor.

How does the imagery of death manifest itself in the Beka Lamb by Zee Edgell?
The death of Troycie brings darkness to the life of Beka. Despite emerging the winner in the essay contest, Beka is not happy because the memories of Troycie are still fresh in her mind. The reader can paint an imaginative picture of how Beka is feeling. The death of Troycie also makes Beka understand the dark side of the reality of life.
