cryosleep (noun)

In science fiction, a deep sleep during which the body is stored at very cold temperature, to preserve it.

A quote from The Wizard of Oz, meaning that one is far from home.

lightyears (noun)

a unit of astronomical distance equivalent to the distance that light travels in one year, which is 9.4607 × 1012 km (nearly 6 trillion miles).

grunt (noun)

a low-ranking or unskilled soldier or other worker.

atmosphere (noun)

the envelope of gases surrounding Earth or another planet.

indigenous (adjective)

originating or occurring naturally in a particular place; native.

Marine (noun)

a member of a body of troops trained to serve on land or at sea, in particular a member of the US Marine Corps.

R&R (noun)

short for "rest and relaxation."

Jujubes (noun)

the edible berrylike fruit of a Eurasian plant, formerly taken as a cure for coughs.

humanoid (noun)

(especially in science fiction) a being resembling a human in its shape.

DNA (noun)

deoxyribonucleic acid, a self-replicating material which is present in nearly all living organisms as the main constituent of chromosomes. It is the carrier of genetic information.

jarhead (noun)

informal term for a US Marine.

botanical (adjective)

relating to plants.

trigger-happy (adjective)

ready to react violently, especially by shooting, on the slightest provocation.

shareholder (noun)

an owner of stock in a company.

shaman (noun)

a person regarded as having access to, and influence in, the world of good and evil spirits, especially among some peoples of northern Asia and North America. Typically such people enter a trance state during a ritual, and practice divination and healing.

aerial (adjective)

existing, happening, or operating in the air.

Ranger Rick (proper noun)

Referring to a children's nature magazine that is published by the United States National Wildlife Federation.

roach (noun)

a scavenging insect that resembles a beetle, having long antennae and legs and typically a broad, flattened body.

colonialism (noun)

the policy or practice of acquiring full or partial political control over another country, occupying it with settlers, and exploiting it economically.
