Taylor Jenkins Reid was born in Maryland on December 20, 1983. She grew up in Massachusetts and became fascinated with Los Angeles and the film industry from a young age. She studied at Emerson College in Boston, where she majored in media studies. After graduation, she moved to Los Angeles, and began working in the film industry, focusing on roles related to casting.
While building her career in film and television, Jenkins Reid also wrote fiction, including novels and short stories. She began working with a literary agent in 1997, and published her first novel, Forever, Interrupted in 2013. It was quickly followed by 3 more novels, leading up to her literary breakthrough with The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (her 5th novel) in 2017.
Subsequent to The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Jenkins Reid's novels have often focused on high-achieving and famous individuals in fields including music, modeling, and athletics. Film and tv adaptations of The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo and Daisy Jones & The Six are forthcoming as of 2022.
Jenkins Reid lives in Los Angeles with her husband, a screenwriter, and their daughter.
